The MWO was established in 1972 and it was set up to specifically to address the needs of the muslim girls, women and elderly of Nottingham.These are broadly speaking : education,health, cultural, religious, emotional and recreational needs.Historically,these needs have been either over-looked or neglected and our organisation wishes to first get the community to ackowledge them, then focus uponthem to finally address them through various avenues including personal developoment and group activity.
Muslim women have special social,emotional and recreational needs-which have to be met within religious, cultural and enviromental situation. this process needs to approached with care whilst involving the necessary authorities one should not aleinate those vulenrable people that need most help.
the over-riding social need is for space and time for women to meet each other in order to compensate for the lack of traditional support mechanism.
Muslim Women's Organisation wants to spread our message of hope and compassion. We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part to the greater good.
